I recently had the chance to meet and interview one of
the industry's finest models…DC's own Sexy Sasha. I
don't have to tell you much about Sasha…. You've seen
her everywhere and will see her more. She is managed by
Jay Dee of 1208 Entertainment out of NY. So hit them up
to book her for your events. Sasha is a classy girl and
represents her sexy to the utmost. I'm going to dub her
a new name cause that's what I do. From here on out Sexy
Sasha will be known as “Mami 100”, ‘cause baby girl is
100% all natural and fine as hell…let's see if the new
name sticks. DC Stand Up!
Favorite place to spend money: Nordstrom's
Favorite DC music artist: Its hard to pick one because I
like Tabi Bonney, Wale, an up and coming singer named
Ciano, and a rapper named Braddy.
Favorite color: red and pink
The perfect date: A date filled with surprises.....like
him coming to my door with flowers and opening doors for
me.....just an all around respectful guy doing stuff
that has never been done for me before.
Favorite song: I have so many.....but my favorite song
out right now is Keisha Cole's new song sent from Heaven
CRED: You're an attractive model. What's the craziest
pickup line you've heard:
Sasha:A random guy just walks up to me and says "I'll
bite your butt"......and then tries to get my number.
CRED: What's you ultimate fantasy?
Sasha:My ultimate fantasy is to be happily married and
have beautiful children one day.
CRED: What the best thing about getting ready for a big
shoot?
Sasha: The make up, if the makeup artist is talented I
like to see the outcome of it…and of course the outfits.
I like dressing up.
CRED: How did you get into modeling?
Sasha: I was auditioning for Diddy's Making the Band,
the girl group. I was standing in line and a guy came up
to me; gave me his card and said you ever thought about
modeling…I was like No…and it's been on from there.
CRED: You've been in a lot of videos. Tell us where
people may have seen you.
Sasha: Roc Boys, with Jay Z, Tabi Bonney, The Pocket
Video and Shaggy and Rick Rock video Bonafide girl.
CRED: What was it like working with Shaggy?
Sasha: Shaggy and Rick Rock are so goofy, it was fun
because I'm goofy to so we were in there acting a fool.
Everyone though he was my father or something saying
that we looked alike. (laughing) It was fun, Shaggy and
Rick Rock where fun people to work with…
CRED: How bout Tabi?
Sasha: He was nice too, very cool, he made sure we were
okay, he really wanted to get to know us before we
started shooting… we all went out to the K Street lounge
as part of the casting/ meet and greet.
CRED: Okay so you were on the set with Jay Z…. What was
it like working with Jay?
Sasha: He was very laid back and chill: he didn't really
interact with a lot of people. He did come out and speak
with the models and people who had something to do with
the video. I believe that Diddy was the one who was
doing the most; (laughing) he was all over the place and
live… the way you see him on TV is the way he is in
person… he's a funny person. There were a lot of people
there, Memphis Bleak, The Dream, Cassie, Mariah Carey;
Rick Ross was there too, he was very chill.
CRED: How do people that knew you before you started
modeling react to you now?
Sasha: They will come up to me and congratulate me
because they've seen me in ads or videos and maybe want
to talk to me about it; some of the girls I went to
school, that didn't like me before but like me now: they
want some connects with modeling so, some people
reactions are different and some are the same as if
they've never seen me in the magazines.
CRED: Is
modeling something that you always knew you would or is
it something that just happened for you?
Sasha: I've always wanted to be a model since elementary
school, I don't know if that's normal (laughing) but
since elementary: now that I'm older I can see that is
not as glamorous as I thought it was: I still do love
modeling but at the same time I have other goals …this
is just to get my foot in the door and get my face out
there.
CRED: So modeling is a stepping stone for you; tell me
what you have in store.
Sasha: Yes it is a stepping stone, it just puts you in
positions to meet people who can take you to that next
level. I feel like modeling is a very good way to give
you exposure no matter what you do. I plan on starting
my own clothing line; I went to school for a few years
and I have acting in mind too: so modeling is a big deal
when it comes to exposure.
CRED: Sasha you've had a lot of success in modeling.
Okay so I'm going to ask you to keep it real at this
point; because a lot people think its all sweet, so just
tell me about one not so great experience that you've
had in the industry.
Sasha: Well the negative part about it is how people
look at you… it's like they look at urban models as if
they're whores or assume most of them are strippers when
it's not really the case. In my case, I've never danced,
I have a good job. People stereo type you. I would
rather be an urban model than a high fashion model
because they have to do nude regardless. But with urban
you have a choice to do lingerie, thong, etc. Its art to
me, its art whether its body paint or lingerie, clothing
ads, etc… I think because I'm thicker than most high
fashion models, they look at us different. When on the
real its some high fashion models that are whores…but
they just down us and I think that that's the negative
side about modeling. That people don't really respect
what we do.
CRED: So tell me about one positive thing that sticks
out in your mind?
Sasha: The positive would have to be me knowing that I'm
working hard now and in the future it's going to pay off
and I'm going to be very successful. Seeing what I've
done and as you can see its good; getting the support
from my family and my friends. That's the upside about
it…
CRED: What type of advice would you give for young women
that want to get into modeling?
Sasha: I'm going to start of by saying keep your head up
and stay focused. Learn how to determine what's real and
what's fake. Have standards, work hard its all about
working hard, of course market yourself and getting
connects its all about staying focused, the main thing
is to stay focused.
CRED: Anyone you'd like to thank or shout out.
Sasha: I have to thank my agent Jay Dee 1208
Entertainment, my brothers that work for Remix Kings
Music Group, Gutter Music, Titanium Girls Magazine Van
Silk, Sandy with Smooth Girl Magazine, my Mother, my
step Father, my sister, my grandmother, my family, my
boyfriend, I have to really thank them because they give
me that big support that I need to stay focused
